The Antarctica cruise is organized by Oceanwide Expeditions, an internationally acclaimed tour operator of trips to both the Arctic and the Antarctic. Passengers will board the M/v Plancius, a former oceanographic research vessel that has been transformed into a cruise ship.

The trip starts on November 4 in Ushuaia. After visiting the Falkland Islands, South Georgia, the Southern Orkney Islands, the Antarctis Peninsula, and South Shetland Island, the Plancius will return to Ushuaia on November 22. Transportation to and from Ushuaia is not part of the trip.

Govert Schilling writes for Dutch newspapers and magazines, but his stories have also appeared in New Scientist and Science, and he is contributing editor of the U.S. monthly Sky & Telescope. So far, he wrote some 50 popular books on various astronomical topics, some of which have been translated into English, including 'The Hunt for Planet X', 'Evolving Cosmos', and 'Eyes on the Skies'.
